Most kids look forward to this time of the year because of the tons of presents they know they will receive—Christmas, is, after all for children more than anyone. Yet as we indulge our brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, and godchildren, there are kids in need who don't get as much joy as they do. And to see kids being treated to a good time by other children is truly a heartwarming sight.
Last December 17, Lancaster New City gathered 39 students from St. Edwards Schools, the network of schools right inside the development, to become Santa's little helpers for a special gift-giving activity with the Children's Joy Foundation. The St. Edward students and kids from Children's Joy became buddies for a day, enjoying the wide-range of activities the Lancaster team prepared, from coloring activities to storytelling. The students also had exciting dance and song numbers, and Santa was, of course, present, too!
But the sweetest part of all? When the St. Edwards students handed out gifts to the Children's Joy kids—seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces was priceless, the best gift anyone could ever receive this season. Albeit they’ve only known each other for a short while, it was apparent that they have already developed a special bond similar to brothers and sisters. It was truly a sight that made everyone’s hearts in the room burst with joy.
And as the students, kids, and other guests enjoyed the event’s finale, which is the Santa's Workshop Christmas Lightshow, we can’t help but feel immense gratitude for this beautiful moment we’ve just witnessed—indeed, the spirit of the season at its finest.
