There is something certainly warm and beautiful about the tradition of lighting an advent Christmas wreath at home. The four weeks of Advent involves the lighting of four candles on each passing Sunday and sometimes people have a fifth, a last white candle in the center, the Christ candle, on Christmas day. Advent wreaths are circular which is symbolic of God's eternal love.
November 27 - First Sunday of Advent
December 4 - Second Sunday of Advent
December 11 - Third Sunday of Advent
December 18 - Fourth Sunday of Advent
It's not too late to join in the lovely anticipation of Christmas by lighting advent candles, there are still two upcoming Sundays and Christmas Day (if you add a fifth Christ candle) for the devotion of lighting. Personal prayers and devotions are offered briefly before the lighting of each candle. Make sure your advent wreath or candle setup is in a safe place with the flames well away from flammable items or surfaces (better to place on top of stone or tiled surfaces) and remember to blow out the candles before bedtime to sleep safely. Always have access to running water and a fire extinguisher nearby your advent candle area.
