Daily Diaries: A Letter to Anyone Searching for Happily Ever After

By KD Rossly

Dear You,

I don’t know exactly what you’re going through, but I know that everyone deserves to be happy. You probably opened this letter because you’re looking for something to complete you. Perhaps, you feel like you’re falling behind somehow or searching for something elusive, like everyone has at some point.

Fairytale princesses find their happily-ever-afters with Prince Charming in a beautiful castle. We don’t live in a fairytale, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t find contentment in real life. All you have to do is figure out what your happy ending looks like.

Some find their happy endings in a soulmate, in family, a best friend, or a successful career.

How old are you? Have you ever thought of your age as an hourglass? Do you ever visualize the grains of sand falling helplessly as you race against time to make something of your life? Well, if you have a dream (and I believe that everyone does), it’s never too early or too late to go make it come true.

Whether you’re a teenager, millennial, or even a senior citizen, go get your dream. Age, years, time...they are all abstracts created by human beings for human beings. Time is relative. If you’ve got the heart, soul, and drive, then go for it. If you think that you haven’t found what you’re looking for yet, don’t you dare settle. It won’t make you happy, I guarantee you.

Everyone was put on this Earth for a good reason. That includes you, and don’t let anyone tell you or make you feel otherwise. Every person sets their own standards in life. We all have our own vision of what completes us.

Some people chase their dreams like a race against the clock. I can’t blame you, I mean who wouldn’t want to be super successful as early as possible? It’s okay to set goals within a particular timeframe, but don’t make the mistake of giving up in case you don’t meet your own schedule. Adjust. The important thing is: You. Never. Stop.

I don’t know what you’re looking for in life, but I know you will find it. I just hope you won’t be too preoccupied with looking for a happy ending that you forget to be happy while you’re looking.

There is no fixed formula for happiness because every person has their own goals. Don’t pressure yourself to the breaking point. Life will get hard, and you will fall and make mistakes. You will probably break your wings trying to fly, but you can heal. Don’t ever tell yourself that it’s over, that you’re done. There is something for you out there. It could take time, but it’s out there and if it isn’t out there, you will create it. Keep in mind that happiness is a combination of many things, not just one. So, don’t leave the decision to be happy up to anyone but yourself.

Your life is composed of family, friends, love, faith, goals, tests, triumphs, tears, smiles, memories, a past, a present and a future. Let your happiness be defined by all those things, not just one.

And in case you still feel incomplete, go ahead and find what would fill that void, but don’t neglect everything else that already holds you together.

A Dream Chaser like you
