Why is Big Bang worth the KPop hype?

Korean Pop (KPop) boy band Big Bang is coming to the Philippines for the second time at Mall of Asia Arena on July 30.

The band, comprising of G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, Daesung, and Seungri, made their debut on August 19, 2006 and immediately made an impact in the KPop scene.

A year later, they launched their breakthrough single “Lies”, and even won several awards at the 17th Seoul Music awards, bagging awards like “Artist of the Year”, “Song of the Year”, and “Best Male Group”.

Their success went beyond South Korea, as they were equally successful in Japan, even performing a Japanese song entitled “Number 1”. The said song was playing on Japanese radio stations, and the album, which has the same name, peaked at number 3 at Japan's Oricon daily album chart.

Big Bang’s members has made solo projects, and even had a collaboration with KPop Girl group 2NE1 for the song “Lollipop”. Among 2NE1’s members is Sandara Park, who is one of the more popular Star Magic Quest contestants. Park has made several movies and television specials for ABS-CBN.

Now on their second world tour (and second visit to the Philippines), Big Bang’s success is enough reason on why they are worth the hype.

Tickets, ranging from General Admission to VIP Dance/Seated, are available at SM Ticket Outlets (470-2222) or online at
