Do you remember this viral video from a cute Fil-British boy last March, who at a young age already believes that then-Davao mayor Rodrigo Duterte will win the elections and help combat crime? And that he pretends to call Duterte on a walkie talkie?
Fast forward to August, Ethan Llanes no longer needs to pretend calling Duterte, as he got the opportunity to meet the president in person last August 30. Ethan did say that he looks forward to meeting Duterte on a Tuesday, so the President granted the young boy's wish, down to the day Ethan specified on his now-viral video.
"This is Ethan my friend, and we are good friends," Duterte said upon meeting Ethan for the first time, carrying the young boy in his arms. During the courtesy call, Duterte talked to Ethan and shared tidbits of his life as the most important leader in the Philippines. In addition, Duterte showed his other side, acting like a loving grandfather to Ethan by goofing around with the young boy, just like how US President Barack Obama would interact with children visiting the White House.
The short but significant conversation concluded with Duterte telling Llanes that he will be "a great guy someday."
