One of the downsides of having famous parents is that people will be constantly comparing you to them. You will also often be referred to as “anak ni…” like you don’t have a name. And you will be asked multiple times the question “Kailan ka mag-aartista?” as if you have been destined to do the exact same thing your parents have become known for. In short, people expect you to live in the shadows of your famous last name forever. While there is nothing wrong with following in your parents’ footsteps, coming into your own is definitely one of the best feelings in the world—and we've got these pretty girls to prove that you can very well be your own person even if you've got famous parents:
Kaila Estrada. Famous parents: John Estrada and Janice de Belen.
Kaila has been very vocal in the past about how she doesn’t really want to enter showbiz and become an actor like her parents. Instead she ventured into modeling where she has recently been making waves on the runway and on magazine covers and features. She is currently signed with Mercator and is one of SM Youth's Ambassadors.
Gabs Gibbs. Famous parents: Janno Gibbs and Bing Loyzaga.
Gabs has a huge resemblance to both her parents, not just in looks but in terms of talent (this girl can sing and is also gifted in the visual arts). Recently she and her sister Alyssa have signed on with a media company to produce beauty and fashion-related video tutorials on Youtube.
Ella Pangalinan. Famous parents: Anthony Pangilinan and Maricel Laxa
On her Instagram profile, Ella shares a quote from legendary fashion designer Diane von Fürstenberg that says, “I did not know what I wanted to do, but I knew the woman I wanted to be.” That statement is something Ella lives by. Already an entrepreneur at her young age, Ella has recently launched her own active wear line SOLA with The Shape Shop.
Marella Ricketts. Famous parents: Ronnie and Mariz Ricketts
After recently graduating from the Ateneo de Manila University with a degree in Communication, minor in Creative Writing, Marella has been writing for a number of publications. And if this is any indication, then it'll only be a matter of time before we see her name in the masthead of a magazine or a blog of her own.
Addie Manzano. Famous parent: Edu Manzano
Though she may not be an actress like most of the members of the Manzano clan, Addie doesn’t really shy away from the camera, as she takes after her dad Edu Manzano and half-brother Luis Manzano when it comes to hosting. She’s one of the hosts of ABS-CBN Sports + Action’s UpFront at UAAP for the 78th Season of the premier collegiate league.
