“If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends...” you're probably a hermit if you haven't even hummed to this tune at least once in your life. One of the most remarkable Spice Girls' songs, “Wannabe” was the anthem of every young woman in the 1990s, and her friends, of course. It was the coolest friendship song, and this music video cements that:
Fast forward to 20 years later, Victoria Beckham (a.k.a Posh Spice for those who might have forgotten) posted this equally lovely, and more meaningful remake, which features girls from different races dancing and jamming along to the song, while showcasing different ways of promoting girl power around the world. These include an end to women's violence, quality education for all girls, gender equality, an end to child marriage, and equal pay and work for women.
The video, which is part of The Global Goals' #WhatIReallyReallyWant campaign, aims to encourage everyone to share a photo of what they want our world leaders to address come September at United Nations.
Ask yourself: What pressing issues do you want your leaders to address?
