PMAP Talks: Mother-Daughter Activities for Adventurous Moms to Try

The word “mother” may not directly be linked to fun, but our loving and nurturing nature towards our kids may be linked with adventure. Ever since I became a mom, I thought that all my adventures would come to an end. While I must say it did slow down a little, motherhood became an avenue for a different kind of adventure altogether. It gave me a new perspective in life and pushed me to be more creative in choosing activities that would allow me to be adventurous once again. But this time, it's together with my six-year-old Sofia.

Here are my top three recommendations of activties you can enjoy with your kids:

1. Get sands on your toes and get tanned at the beach.

There are countless activities that you can do at the beach. Boracay is one of the top beaches that we go to. The water there is warm and shallow, there are no riptides to be scared of, and best of all, there are numerous kid-friendly water sports and activities! This includes paddle boarding, kayaking, and island-hopping. Just make sure to pack up on sunscreen and aloe gel to avoid nasty sunburns and relieve rashes you get from wearing bathing suits.

2. Go on a fun-filled road trip!

This is best done not only with your kid but with other family members. Tagaytay, Baguio, and Sagada are just some of the places near Manila that you can drive to. La Union, Pangasinan, Vigan, and Pagudpud are also fun places up north that have historical sites and beautiful views for photo-ops with your family. If you’re south-bound, Batangas, Bataan, and Bicol would be ideal places to go to because of their rich culture and heritage which would be a good experience for the entire family.

3. Rejuvenate your soul with a  local church pilgrimage.

Local churches/parishes have annual pilgrimages to different churches around the Metro. You and your kid can learn more about history, architecture, and of course, Roman Catholicism. This would allow you to infuse your kids’ values to yours through an interactive way that they will surely remember, while having fun at the same time.
