The Six Fix: Easy Tricks that Will Banish Dry Lips for Good

Soft and pink lips are every girl's dream, but each season brings unique challenges for our skin, be it exposure to the strong sunshine during summer or the drying effect of the cold weather, and sadly, lip care is often an afterthought to our regimen.

Many people have a daily skincare routine for their face but forget about caring for their lips—the skin on our lips is softer, more sensitive, and more prone to damage when exposed which means we should pay them a great deal of protection. And since our lips do not produce oil, they really need extra care to stay hydrated.

If your pout has lost its natural pink color over time, take these easy tips to heart—they will surely help make your lips healthy once again:

1. Drink plenty of water. Dehydration is a common cause of chapped lips and hydrating from the inside will help combat it. The small amount of water left on your lips after a cool sip can linger and maintain the fluid balance.

2. Have a healthy diet. It's true what everyone says, following a proper diet gives you glowing skin and soft, desirable lips. Vitaminsmoisturize them naturally and reduce pigmentation making them pink and soft. So, if you want juicy lips, it is very important to be careful with what you eat.

Try: Make sure your diet include citrus fruits like oranges, grapefruit, and juices that contain a huge content of Vitamin C—give your lips the nourishment and hydration they need to stay healthy and supple.

3. Keep your lips moisturized. Use the right lip care products. There's a large variety of lips balms available for you to choose from, but those with ingredients like sea butter, beeswax, almond, and coconut are really good for the lips. You may also go for colored lip balms to eliminate the need to apply gloss or lipstick. And in case you have sensitive skin, use medicated lip balms.

Try: Give your lips the love they deserve and turn your painfully chapped lips soft, stat, with Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm. This boasts of a potent lip-caring formula based on the soothing power of beeswax, boosted by different vitamin ingredients.

4. Check your lipstick.  If you use lipstick everyday, pick ones with moisturizing ingredients. One of the most important qualities you have to consider when it comes to this beauty essential is how it makes your lips feel—the best ones are those that bring a soft, silky feel to your pout.

Try: Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks, infused with silk and vitamins for a smooth, conditioning color. It comes in a dazzling array of fabulous, fashionable shades.

5. Don't lick your lips. While it might seem like a good idea at the time (given that saliva is a fluid, we know), running your tongue over your lips is the worst thing you can do for them. As your saliva dries, it sucks more moisture from your skin—better reach for your lip balm instead.

6. Practice healthy habits. One of the few steps to get back the color of your lips is to stop smoking, quitting can really have some amazing and immediate effects not just on your lips, but on your entire body.
