It was literally one fine day, in the middle of a lovely indoor park setup at that, when we caught up with teen stars Alexa Ilacad and Ylona Garcia—the beauties were having a grand time at the picnic setup of the launch of the M.A.C. Flamingo Park Collection. Totally love their dainty outfits!
Alexa in saccharine pink….
And Ylona rockin' color blocking...
We found out that the Luv U star and the Pinoy Big Brother 737 Teen Third Placer don't only have on point fashion sensibilities, they’ve also got lots to share when it comes to all things beauty. Read on for their must-have products, tried-and-tested beauty tricks, and what they won’t do in the name of beauty—plus, why Alexa doesn’t put blush on the apples of her cheeks anymore (The girl surely knows her makeup!):
What are your beauty must-haves?
Alexa: “Setting spray [for makeup to last longer], cheek tint, eyelash curler, mascara, black eyeliner. When it comes to lipsticks, I like nudes but to look younger I need to wear pink lipstick.”
Ylona: “Brow pencils and brushes. Lipsticks—purple and reddish shades.”
What’s one makeup trick you do that makes you go “Woah, now I look fantastic!”?
Alexa: “Putting white eyeliner on the waterline [of my eyes].”
Ylona: “Curling my lashes then putting on mascara for a natural look.”
What’s one thing you don’t do for the sake of beauty?
Alexa: “Touch my pimples!”
What’s one thing you’ll never do in the name of beauty?
Ylona: “Undergo plastic surgery!”
What beauty tips do you swear by?
Alexa: “I always moisturize my skin 30 minutes before putting on makeup to prep the skin. I also like to blowdry my lash curler for better-curled lashes, and I only put blush on my cheekbones not on the apples—I learned from my makeup artist that putting on blush on the apples makes you look fat and if you have dark contour on, don’t put blush as well.”
What beauty trend are you trying this summer?
Alexa: “I want to be more adventurous when it comes to the colors of the lipsticks I use. For summer they said to ditch nude shades and stick to light hues for maximum freshness. I want to learn highlighting/strobing, too!”
