If the 46th Guillermo Mendoza Awards saw loads of tulle, ball gowns, and all things royal, the style M.O. at the 38th Gawad Urian was a combination of modern Filipiniana and luxe aesthetics. Here are our picks for standout celebrity red carpet ensembles:
Host and best actress nominee for the film That Thing Called Tadhana, Angelica Panganiban, had two outfit changes. Styled by Rex Atienza, her first look was glam and mysterious: A black ball gown by young designer RoyAnne Camillia, accessorized with pieces from Dina Castro Fine Jewelry (see header photo).
For Angelica’s second look, Rex decked her in a bluish gray trumpet cut gown with a sweetheart neckline by up and coming formalwear brand Elize. An elegant drop necklace from Dina Castro Fine Jewelry accentuated her décolletage.
Angelica’s co-host, Robi Domingo, followed the ceremony’s theme to a T in a well-tailored barong Tagalog (see header photo).
Best Actress winner for the film Dagitab, Eula Valdez, was sleek and sparkly in a black and gold ensemble—she looks oh so hot and fantastic at 46.
Jed Madela went for a dark-hued barong Tagalog with modern, one-of-a-kind embroidery.
Ang Natatanging Gawad Urian Winner Ms. Nora Aunor was all radiant and regal in a cream off shoulder gown with black embroidery.
What barong? Best Supporting Actor winner for the film Dagitab, Martin del Rosario, opted for modern formal by way of a classic suit.
