Truffled mushroom pate from Epicurious, Toasted Ravioli stuffed with Shitake Mushrooms, Cashew Ricotta, and Spinach from Susi, and Mushroom, Guancialle, Fontina and Thyme Pizza from Blackbird—doesn’t your mouth water just visualizing these? They are just some of the exciting and yummy dishes you will get to enjoy this October from 74 well-established restaurants and food brands in Metro Manila and nearby areas on a whole new level: You also get to spread some good through great food made with some locally grown mushrooms through the Mushrooms Go Pink PH Campaign.
Spearheaded by Ministry of Mushrooms, this campaign aims to raise funds for breast cancer research (10% of the cost of each order of a special dish will be donated to ICanServe Foundation) and heighten awareness—did you know that there's strong evidence that mushrooms contain properties that may lead to breast cancer prevention and elimination?
According to the official website of the New York Times bestselling author of Eat To Live and Super Immunity, Joel Fuhrman, M.D., a board-certified family physician and nutritional researcher who specializes in preventing and reversing disease through nutritional and natural methods, “white, cremini, portobello, oyster, maitake, and reishi mushrooms each contain a number of bioactive compounds with the potential for anti-cancer activity. These mushroom phytochemicals have anti-angiogenic, anti-proliferative, and other anti-cancer effects, which have been studied in relation to stomach, colorectal, breast, and prostate cancers.”
“Through the campaign we hope to see the city filled with mushrooms to remind us that the food we cherish can also be what saves our lives and the lives of those who we love around us,” says Ministry of Mushrooms founder Marco Lobregat.
