It is a given fact that Filipinos love singing, especially if it is an artist that they love and can relate to. In fact, videoke is an essential part of Filipino culture, where we belt out songs from artists we are familiar with.
One of these artists that Filipinos dearly love? It’s the Danish soft rock band Michael Learns To Rock (MLTR). Established in 1988, the band, which comprises of singer Jascha Richter, drummer Kane Wanscher, guitarist Mikkel Lentz, and bassist Soren Madsen, MLTR has a growing international audience thanks to their rock ballads, and the Philippines is among their most active audience.
Since their self-titled debut in September 1991, Filipinos love singing along MLTR’s hit singles, prompting the group to visit the country several times since the 1990s. In all occasions, their visits were successful as Filipinos sang along through their hit songs.
And how much Filipinos love MLTR? One of their songs, “It’s Gonna Make Sense”, was used for Pinoy big Brother: Double up back in 2009. Aside from that, another good reason why Filipinos love them is that they are good role models, with the whole duration of their career free from scandals, drugs, and divorces.
As they celebrate their silver anniversary as a band, Filipinos are once again excited to sing along to MLTR’s hits such as “The Actor”, “Someday”, and “Take Me to Your Heart” on September 19 at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
So, are you ready to belt out your voices to a night with MLTR? We are sure that it’s gonna make sense someday!
