Kim Chiu’s silver and white balloon-skirted ball gown by Pepsi Herrera was truly a showstopper during the 2013 Star Magic Ball, and as she collaborates with the brilliant designer again this year, we can’t help but wonder: How will they top such a spectacular piece?
While the sketch of the gown is still under wraps, Pepsi reveals some details about the design he and Kim came up with after exchanging ideas. “She requested for the gown to be an off shoulder one. It’s embellished with embroidered pieces studded with thousands of tiny crystals,” he shares. The serpentina gown will be in nude, which is the color theme of this year’s Star Magic Ball.
A thousand crystals? Now that we're very excited to see! This will surely be another exquisite creation from Pepsi, who is not only one of the top designers in the country, but also one of Kim's go-to designers. “I love working with her because she’s so sweet and appreciative, and she also has the perfect body and such a beautiful face—truly any designer’s dream.”
Besides dressing up Kim, Pepsi is also doing Enrique Gil’s off white suit, Janella Salvador’s embellished body fit gown with a bouffant skirt, Jane Oineza’s serpentina gown with an overskirt, and more. “I get my inspiration often from dreams, or if not, from crystals. I love crystals and I always find new ways to use them in garments. I also get inspired by architecture (how angles are made), and I apply this in making modern structured clothes,” he says.
