If you’ll opt for smoky eyes, avoid anything too intense on your lips; if you choose to wear a vivid hue on your pout, keep your eye makeup light—says many a beauty expert, and while this will always be a foolproof makeup guideline, as we all know, for every rule, there is an exception. Anne Curtis recently shared online a look she tried on for an endorsement shoot, and it pretty much silenced those who had doubts on wearing bright-on-bright makeup.
There are two very important things to note here: First, is the importance of a clean, flawless base: Not too much blush, contour, nor highlighter. Your complexion should not take away the spotlight from your bright eye makeup and lippy, but rather, provide a healthy-looking backdrop for it.
Second, choose complementary bold colors. Anne’s look works because bronze-orange and fuchsia go well together; purple and pink, would too, and so would blue and green (check out the color wheel for reference).
The next time you’re going out to party, give your smoky eye palette and red lipstick a break—instead, go bold or go home.
