When you can wholeheartedly tell your special someone “I love you just the way you are”—bad hair days, baduy moments, and all—lucky you, you’ve found The One. That shouldn’t keep you both from trying out new things, though, and if you haven’t yet, we suggest discovering your couple style statement.
This year’s breakout love team, Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano (who, by the way, had since admitted that there’s “something” between them), can teach you a thing or two about how to literally look good when you’re together.
Enrique and Liza’s styles don’t mirror each other—his is hip hop street, while hers is breezy and feminine—but both of them go for comfort when it comes to their wardrobe choices. Lightweight pieces in fresh colors like white and soft gray are great for both guys and girls.
To tie your looks together, find shades that both of you like and build your outfits around those.
Put a twist on basic colors by way of funky accessories, or even just textures and accents. Caps are an outfit game-changer for guys, and even for girls, if you want to take a break from overtly sweet options. Liza’s on screen style is dainty, but when off cam, she prefers to chill in more relaxed ensembles and is also into kicks and hoodies—a penchant she and Enrique have in common (see header photo).
When dressing in the same color palette, avoid going too matchy and look for interesting details to make each of your outfits stand out on its own, look at how Enrique and Liza did it during one of their ASAP 20 production numbers: Styled by Perry Tabora, Liza was decked in a white dress by budding designer Hannah Kong—it may seem simple from a frontal perspective, but the cutout details and the huge bow accent at the back makes it one-of-a-kind. Her dashing leading man, styled by Ton Lao, breaks the monotony without taking away the freshness of white by pairing his tuxedo jacket and trousers with a striped shirt in cool pastel hues.
No matter what you and your guy (or girl) opt to wear, always keep in mind to let your outfits be a reflection of who you really are and of the wonderful relationship you share.
