Instead of buying expensive lamps for your ceiling, why not create your own lamps? In this photoset, interior designer and DIY blogger Michelle Rimosa-Sy shares how you can fashion your own paper lamps from easy to purchase materials. For both her version of the paper lamp and her reader's version, they dressed up paper lampshades you can buy from Japanese home stores for cheap (Michelle got hers for P88!) with strips of paper that they carefully attached into the lampshade, following its frame. Here are a few tips from Michelle to help you make this DIY project a success (and also get to have fun while you're at it!):
1. Use any thin colored paper for the lamp. Michelle's recommendations are hopia paper, tracing paper, and rice paper.
2. When cutting the paper into strips, you don't need to be too OC and ensure that every strip is cut evenly.
3. In attaching the strips of paper, use the spiral wire as your guide.
