MAY 2017: CONDO ISSUE
High-rise developments have been mushrooming around, not just in the metro but all over the country, and there are no signs of stopping! Some people, however, may equate a condo or an apartment with design challenges, but Metro Home & Entertaining has found homes which are big on style and function and are brimming with design ideas that can make the most of a limited floor area.
On the cover of the magazine is an elegantly furnished unit at the Grove by Rockwell. Inside, more units at The Grove present stylish and clever ideas to offer homeowners a sense of an elevated lifestyle and the modern ease of living in a condominium.
To update and spruce up your space, check out the feature on the trendiest home items you can find on the market today—from bone white items to metal pieces to artisanal goods.
Home design inspirations can come from everything that surrounds us. So, the magazine has visited Poblacion, Makati, the newest food hub in town, to feast not just on the delicious food offerings of the various restaurants there but also on the rich array of style ideas that may be applied to your home.
Another interesting read is the story on Hotel 1925, a newly-built hotel in Lipa City, Batangas which was dramatically transformed from a warehouse to a fine hotel with interiors inspired by the Spanish colonial era.

THE BIG EXPERT ADVICE ISSUE
The start of the year always beckons positive changes and new beginnings. For some, this means a home makeover of sorts is in order, to invite luck, welcome changes, and lead a more organized life for the rest of the year.
If you’re in the mood for some home makeover, Metro Home & Entertaining magazine’s first issue for 2017 will inspire and motivate you to tap into your creativity. Dubbed as “The Big Expert Advice Issue,” the magazine has gathered trendy buys—from cork to fur pieces to items with reflective surfaces—to refresh the styling of your space, and has sought clever and practical tips from various design experts to guide you with your home redesign project.
On the cover, the magazine features a home that is a result of a beautiful collaboration between the owner and Architect Mike Peña, who are both advocates of green architecture. This is followed by pages upon pages of elegant homes, designed by Architects Ramon Antonio and James Jao and British interior designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard (check out the feature on the Miami home he designed, owned by fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger!).
A career in the fields of architecture and interior designing has also become more and more interesting for many, so Metro Home & Entertaining has put together a special feature on design dynamic duos whose journeys and creative collaborations are compelling and inspiring. Featured on this special section are Empire Designs’ Mark Steven Perez and Vianca Añonuevo Favila, Heim Interiors’ Bong and Rossy Rojales, Jagnus Design Studios’ Sonny Sunga and Arnold Austria, Morfosis’ Misty Floro and Pai Edles, and Space Encounters’ Wilmer Lopez and Thor Balanon, who shared with the magazine their latest projects.
Other must-read features in this issue include the stories on the ancestral home of Jose Rizal’s first love, Segunda Katigbak; the rehabilitation of the country’s only all-metal church, the 150-year-old Basilica Menor de San Sebastian; and the travel journal on Normandy in France.
