In Focus: Through Thick And Thin–Be Inspired By Judy Ann Santos' Fitness Evolution!

The last time we saw Judy Ann Santos on TV, she was hosting the second season of Bet on Your Baby. Juday later took a break to give birth to her second child Luna. While she made an appearance in the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival 2016 entry Kusina, it is only recently that she made her television comeback. And that as host of the third season of her reality show.

At the presscon of Bet On Your Baby last April 19, Juday came on stage sporting a slimmer figure. She had just dropped to 140 lbs from 172, still a few lbs. shy of her ideal weight, she gushed. Yet Juday took it all in stride. “Hindi naman yun liit ng waistline yun hinahabol ko; [Mas habol ko] yun fitness, yun ma-reach yun highest energy as much as possible."

Of course, shape-shifting is nothing new for Juday. In her 30+ years in showbiz, the actress has done so when her roles required her to. She has always been happy and comfy with her figure, though, serving as the perfect fitspo for those who think being a mom is the end of it all. Let's look back at how the mom of Yohan, Lucho, and Luna metamorphosed over time into the mod woman we know now!

 

1992: As Mara on the hit 90s drama Mara Clara, then-newbie Juday came in defying what other teens thought as "hot." Never mind that 'twas the age where the skinnier type like Claire Danes and Selma Blair ruled–Juday easily stood out not just for her talent but also for her iconic pisngi.

2001: After going the teenybopper route, Juday then took on her first "mature" role via Bakit Hindi Totohanin. She had to take boxing lessons for the movie, which of course introduced her to the idea of fitness.

2004: Just as actors work out to fit a role, Juday did so remarkably for her first titular superhero character Krystala. She added running and martial arts into her fitness mix. It all paid off in the end–just check out how fab she looked!

2006: In addition to exercise, Juday turned to diet. With it, she learned to cut down her meat and sugar consumption as much as possible. She got so confident she even stripped for a magazine feature! It was in a previous Body Issue of Metro, where she appeared alongside the likes of Cheska Garcia, Nancy Castiglione, and Chynna Ortaleza in the same issue feature!

  

2011: Juday, after giving birth to firstborn Lucho, had to lose weight in preparation for Junior Masterchef Philippines. That time, she got into CrossFit and circuit training. For her diet, she adapted Cohen, a program that matches what you eat with your blood chemistry. The result? 40 Ibs gone in eight months! 

2015: Cementing her dedication to eating and living healthy, Juday released her cookbook Judy Ann's Kitchen. It compiled all the recipes she's used as a mom and chef. The cookbook won in the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards a year later.

2017: "Alam mo naman ang bashers, sampu-sampera 'yang mga 'yan," Juday could only shrug off nayasyers who had doubted her commitment to fitness. This, especially after giving birth to second child Luna. This time, however, Juday now upholds her new "strong is the new sexy" mantra. Who is there to support? No one else but hubby Ryan Agoncillo! more Juday's husband Ryan Agoncillo tags along during workouts, inspiring each other. Juday is still trying to be in shape, but she is doing fine, despite having three kids.
