Not every guy can say that he got to propose to his girlfriend in front of the President, but Senior Inspector Arvin Jumilio certainly got bragging rights. After President Rodrigo Duterte delivered a speech at the Police Regional Office 13 Headquarters in Camp Rafael C. Rodriguez, Butuan city, Jumilio requested for a few minutes from the President for—in Jumilio's own words "Sa ngalan ng pag-ibig."
Jumilio is the boyfriend of Duterte’s aide-de-camp (an officer of the armed forces who aids the President) Senior Inspector Romea Alniza Quinang. The two were supposed to get married this month but things went rocky so the wedding was called off. But then, as most of us would surely agree with, true love is worth fighting for and as Jumilio put it, "Everything happens for a reason.". "Had it been na kinasal tayo hindi mangyayari 'to na makapag-propose ako sayo before the President of the Republic and the viewing public throughout the world."
In his short but heartfelt and meaningful speech Jumilio said, “When you left me I realized na for the five years and ten months that we’ve been together, na-realize ko marami akong pagkukulang as your boyfriend, but, don’t you worry pakasalan mo lang ako I still have forever para bumawi…as your husband.” And with that Jumilio gave his now-fiancee a bouquet of roses, got on his knees, and put the ring on Quinang’s finger. Here's the kilig video that went viral on social media, that will catapult your hopia to new heights, and of course, reinforces the power of true love.
