You may not realize it, but Erik Santos has probably been a regular fixture in your life. How so? Erik has been the voice behind the iconic theme songs of some of the most beloved teleseryes and films of all time—it’s why he’s referred to as the “King of Pinoy Theme Songs.” As he celebrates his birthday this month, let’s take a look back at some of his greatest soundtrack hits. Prepare your nostalgic feels.
"If You Asked Me To." John Lloyd Cruz’s and Angel Locsin’s chemistry was in full display in the fun and sexy rom-com Unofficially Yours. The same could be said about Erik's and Angeline Quinto's chemistry in their rendition of the film’s theme song.
"Maging Sino Ka Man." Maging Sino Ka Man featured the heavyweight cast of John Lloyd Cruz, Bea Alonzo, Anne Curtis, and Sam Milby. Naturally, you’ll need a heavyweight voice for the show’s theme song as well.
"Pagbigyang Muli." Maria La Del Barrio, the Philippine remake of the Mexican drama series of the same title, featured the super kilig love team of Erich Gonzales and Enchong Dee. Erik added that extra ounce of kilig through the show’s opening song.
"Now That I Have You." "Now That I Have You" is one of the earliest films of the unparalleled tandem of John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo. Erik Santos, along with Sheryn Regis, was tasked with providing the vocals for this momentous movie’s theme song.
"May Bukas Pa." May Bukas Pa, the Zaijan Jaranilla-starrer that revolves around his character Santino and “bro,” is one of the highest-rated teleseryes of all time. Erik lent his divine vocals to the religious show’s ending theme.
"I’ll Never Go." One More Chance needs no introduction, but this needs to be said: Perhaps only Erik Santos could’ve done justice to the theme song of this classic film.
Long live the king. Happy Birthday, Erik!
