Your Local is a neighbourhood bistro serving modern Southeast Asian dishes. Opened by Chef Denny Antonino and Nicco Santos, the restaurant has a hipster meets industrial vibe and serves all day brunch together with their standard menu. It’s for yuppies at lunch time and everyone at dinner. It’s not for people looking for quick Asian takeouts. We recommend the Lamb Rendang and Torched Salmon Donburi and their value-for-money 24 Hour Sous Vide Corn Fed USDA Choice Beef Short Rib. Our insider tip is to hop over to Yardstick after dinner for coffee through their revolving wall partition.

Single Origin features a hefty breakfast & lunch menu, a dinner menu and a beverage list that includes specialty coffee and alcohol-based drinks. It’s for all types of eaters and drinkers, from breakfast to lunch, to dinner until late night. It’s not for diners who want alone time as tables are meant to be shared here. We recommend the Single Origin Burger, Surf n Turf Beer Dough Pizza, S.O. French Toast. Don’t forget to try their Valhrona Mocha Latte, Orange-infused Cappuccino and Bacon-infused Bloody Mary. Our insider tip: They serve specialty Lamill coffee blends from California. Full feature here.

Wildflour Café + Bakery is a bakery at heart that offers international fare and specialty breads and cakes. It’s for people who enjoy hearty brunch meals and a good cup of coffee any hour of the day. It’s not for office employees who want quick meals. We recommend their grilled cheese, salad and soup combo, wild mushroom salad, squid ink garganelli and their bestselling kimchi steak fried rice. Our insider tip is except for Podium Mall, all Wildflour branches are open until 4pm only on Sundays. P.S. You can get breads and pastries at 50% off after 7pm.

Vikings Luxury Buffet have redefined the buffet service industry; what was once mostly available in hotels catering to the upper classes has now been made available to the middle class. It’s for families and groups who are looking to celebrate special occasions affordably. Customers are loving their avocado ice cream. It’s not for people who prefer the ambiance of a hotel buffet. Todd English offers food from all over the world in an upscale food hall setting. A large restaurant with 9 different food stations, it is branded after American celebrity chef Todd English. It’s for people who like big menus or want to eat in a big group. It’s not for dieters who are vulnerable to temptation. We recommend their freshly made pastas, Torched Nigiri Stairs, T.E. Pork Chop and their flat breads. Our insider tip is that this restaurant is open until 11pm, perfect if you’re getting a late dinner after a movie date. P.S. Todd English group is bringing in llaollao yogurt brand to Manila.

Mama Lou’s Italian Kitchen is one of the South‘s biggest neighborhood secrets, but because good restaurants can’t hide forever, it is now a foodie’s destination for authentic Italian eats. It’s for families and children who enjoy eating in a homey setting. It’s not for people who don’t like to brave the Southern commute (but good news, they’ve already opened a branch in UP Town Center). We recommend the Risotto Tartufo Funghi, Spaghetti Seafood Olio and Pizza Tabarnes. Our insider tip is that you may request to have 1 pizza in two halves – each with a different flavor. Read our full feature here.

The Frazzled Cook is a quirky restaurant put together with the mission of serving good comfort food in a cozy, homey ambiance. ‘Frazzled’, which means completely exhausted, says nothing of the food, but the passion and hard work put in to every dish they serve. It’s for casual but intimate date nights or cozy meals with the family. It’s not for people who don’t enjoy searching for ‘hidden’ restaurants. We recommend the Sizzling Squid, Wagyu Salpicao, Truffle Pasta, and Pancake ala Mode. Here’s an insider tip: The place is easily curtained off into sections, and they also have rooms for smaller private events. Read our full feature here.

Rib City is a fun and interactive kid-friendly restaurant specializing in tender, fall-off-the-bone ribs. Other items on the menu include pasta, salads, soups and other mains. In line with their restaurant concept, they encourage guests to play and build legos while waiting for orders. It’s for barkada night outs or weekend play dates with the kids. It’s not for people who are looking for a quiet place to work in. We recommend the Big City with CTY rice or the Twin Tower. Our insider tip is non-rib eaters can still enjoy their burger and Philly cheesesteak sandwich. P.S. Rib City Pioneer in Mandaluyong is now open!
