The Six Fix: These Top Finds at RepubLokal Showcase Filipino Ingenuity at Its Finest

Proudly Filipino artisans got the chance to showcase their goods, from food to accessories, at the recently-concluded RepubLokal fair, held at Metrotent, Pasig City, from June 18-19.

Over 40 merchants, which offer everything from food and jewelry, to home decor and leather goods, participated at the two-day bazaar aimed at promoting the best in the ingenuity and creativity of Filipino artists and entrepeneurs. In addition to these up-and-coming local brands showcasing their products, patrons were also entertained by acoustic performances, poetry reading, and workshops catering to various hobbies and interests.

Here are six must-try products we spotted at RepubLokal:

1. Chicharron Con Chocolate

Ever fancied the idea of combining crunchy chicharron with delicious chocolate? Never mind the sinfulness, go ahead and treat yourself (but in moderation, please).

2. Crafted and Worn watches

Instead of using plastic or metal for its case, these nature-inspired watches are handcrafted from blocks of wood, ensuring that each watch is unique on its own!

3. Gouache bags

Using waxed canvas as its primary material, their bags are durable and stylish at the same time. Add leather accents into the mix and you got yourself a trendy bag millennials would approve of.

4. Dear Jamie handmade soaps

Using soaps made from organic materials is a healthy and sustainable way to clean our bodies and promote good hygiene. They may have just launched at RepubLokal, but their products are indeed promising, especially since they're 100 percent organic.

5. Wood Arts MNL artworks

By using wood as their canvas, these handpainted artworks are definite standouts as décor pieces for your home or office.

6. BAO.MNL Chinese buns.

Those who love Chinese buns will appreciate this very Pinoy approach to the Chinese staple, which makes use of unconventional ingredients like tofu, gelato, and tempura, among others.
