It’s not everyday that you get to meet someone who can give LEGIT advice on modeling, acting, and starting a business all in one sitting—unless that someone is Miko Raval. After giving modeling a shot back in 2010, Miko shifted into acting and fell in love with it. He has since appeared in a number of Kapamilya TV shows such as Moon of Desire and Tubig at Langis, proving that he does have a knack for acting even if it wasn’t what he’d always wanted to do.

“My childhood dream was to be a professional basketball player but when it didn’t work out, I had to think of something else that I would do with my life.” Knowing that the 9AM to 5PM setting of the corporate world isn’t really for him, Miko, wanting to be his own boss, went on to launch his own clothing line, KIRV. “It was just a crazy idea I had back in college because it was such a struggle for me to find nice and affordable clothes.”

And while many of us dream of having our own fashion label, the whole process of starting one up can be pretty overwhelming. But if you are up for the challenge, then let this model-actor-entrepreneur give yo ua crash course on setting up your own fashion line:
1. “Come up with the aesthetics you want for your brand."
2. “Set a target market and study how your brand can penetrate it.”
3. “Study types of fabrics and their uses and start looking for suppliers."
4. “Look for a pattern maker/sample maker or manufacturing firm to create the blueprint for your clothes."
5. “Do the costing for the fabric and labor.”
6. “Produce your clothes.”
7. “Launch your brand.”
