Despite not having any formal and technical education in the fields of design and fashion, Charina Sarte has managed to take what once was a startup beachwear line into a covetable brand with international renown. Since 2009, her flagship store in Greenbelt 5 has become a mecca for women who dare to dress the Charina way—bold, sexy, and definitely worthy of head turns.

Meant to flaunt a taut figure, lengthy legs, and everything in between, Charina’s designs are all about celebrating the woman’s inherent sex appeal. She understands exactly what she wants women and her clients to be like and turns them to reality with cutouts here and there and silhouettes that cling to the body. “I dress women in things that I myself would like to wear,” she shares. “My clothes are very wearable. I want to make clothes that people will actually like to put on.” Clearly her self-assuredness has also played a hand in her success.

Though the passion for the industry runs in her bloodline (she hails from a family of famed fashion designers and makeup artists), Charina knows that it doesn’t just stop there. Apart from her loyal clientele, you can find Charina’s work in boutiques from Abu Dhabi, Beirut, and St. Barts. In fact her game is leveling up, so much so that her next consignment will be at the Galleries Lafayette in Paris, France. But for everyone here in Manila, get set to be treated to a luscious array of Charina’s sultry and elegant pieces at the Metrowear Luxe Fashion Show on November 14 at Dusit Thani—we’re sure the collection is not just something to watch for, but one we would all lust after.
