On its 62nd iteration, the Manila Furnishings and Apparel Manufacturers’ Exchange (FAME) is expanding its scope to include those from the provinces.
For the upcoming exhibit, Manila FAME will be including products coming from Albay, Southern Mindanao, and the Zamboanga Peninsula as part of its ever-expanding list of exhibitors as part of Manila FAME’s “Artisans Village”.
Also included as part of “Artisans Village” are those coming from Cagayan Valley and Laguna.

Among products to look out for are abaca handbags, houseware, home décor, furniture, carpet, and rugs from the craftsmen of Albay, which is a community best known for its weavers.
As for those from Southern Mindanao and the Zamboanga Peninsula, one can expect exotic leather, jewelry, pearls, and mats made from natural fiber, organic products made from madre de cacao, a multipurpose legume tree, and textiles made by the Yakan community in Basilan, who are also known for their weaving techniques.
Having such exhibitors are important as they support Manila FAME’s drive to support the social and cultural importance of these indigenous crafts.
In addition to the “Artisans Village”, expect to see more of these indigenous crafts at Manila FAME’s “By Hands: Craft of the Islands”, which will also showcase the art of abaca weaving, bead making, capiz shell lighting, and many more.
