Liza Soberano’s ethereal makeup, Janella Salvador’s elegant winged eyeliner, Jolina Magdangal’s glam Old Hollywood look, Maja Salvador’s sultry eyes—standout looks at the 9th Star Magic Ball that were made possible by celebrity makeup maven Mickey See. Known to be able to highlight his clients' natural beauty to the fullest, Mickey stresses the importance of having great skin to look truly gorgeous on the red carpet (and anywhere else), just like Liza, Janella, Jolina, and Maja. “A beautiful gown is pointless if you don’t take care of your skin, you don’t groom your brows, and you don’t make sure you’re fully prepared—mani, pedi, etc.—before a big event,” he notes. Once you’ve nailed that, it’ll be easier for you to glam up—Mickey shares how you can channel the four girls:
Liza Soberano. “Since Liza’s gown was already pink, I stayed away from that color family—pink blush included. Nude shades gave her a lit-from-within glow, and a mauve lipstick added spunk to her sweet look.”
Janella Salvador. “She really wanted the focus to be on her eyes and I did exactly that using the cat eye technique—a foolproof way to open up the eyes. And because her eyes already made a statement, I used a nude lippie on her to balance things out.”
Maja Salvador. “Maja’s gown was in beige/peach so I brightened up her look with sultry eyes reminiscent of Kim Kardashian’s smoky eyes with lush lashes.”
Jolina Magdangal. “Jolina is done with pa-sweet, tweetums makeup. Our inspiration for this is Old Hollywood glam, and the sophisticated vibe of the film The Great Gatsby—key elements are rich, smoky eyes and luxe red lips.”
