It may be their fourth time holding a concert in the Philippines, but award-winning American pop-rock group Maroon 5 definitely love the Philippines, especially their Filipino fans.
As one would recall, Maroon 5, led by front man Adam Levine, has held concerts in the Philippines in 2008, 2011, and 2012. But what makes Levine stand out with Filipinos is the fact that he represented a Filipino brand of clothing back in 2012, coinciding with their third visit to the Philippines.
Indeed, third time’s a charm for Filipinos.
Initially considered a “long shot” given the number of commitments Levine had back then, which includes being a coach on the third season of “The Voice”, Filipino clothing brand Bench and its founder, Ben Chan, tried to persuade Levine by sending the Maroon 5 frontman samples of their clothes.
To the surprise of Chan, Levine liked the products of Bench, which prompted the Filipino brand to launch the hashtag #GlobalBenchsetter, and the rest is history.
“It was great, it was actually really, really cool. I love the clothes. I want to steal a lot of them. It’s nice to be simple and basic. That’s the kind of thing that I like,” Levine said on what he liked about Bench’s clothing line during an exclusive interview with ABS-CBNNews.com back in 2012.
After the unexpected response, Levine personally attended the Benchsetter Fun Meet, which was held in SMX Convention Center in Pasay City on September 17, 2012. Three years after Levine endorsed a Filipino brand, his band is coming back on the same day to hold their fourth concert in the Philippines.
And what has Levine have to say to his Filipino fans? He definitely loves them! “The Philippines is just probably the best and has the most supportive fans internationally. It’s always cool to come back here,” Levine said.
