Though coffee is still the drink of choice here in the Philippines, tea has been gaining more and more popularity especially amongst the healthy lifestyle advocates, and as you know, is long far from just being tea. With the milk variety as its most liked permutation besides the traditional one, tea now caters to a wide range of palates—even to those who think it’s too healthy. Now the issue has become which variety to go for, when everything’s just so good.
We’ve compiled some pointers to help you easily decide when it’s just too hard to pick your poison (pun not intended):
Yay for Traditional Tea!
Basic, conventional tea—most especially green tea, in its purest form, already offers many health benefits, from boosting your body’s metabolism process to improving cholesterol levels. It's loaded with antioxidants which reduce the free radicals in your body and yes, can really help you lose weight, provided you complement it with proper diet and some physical activity. A variant to try: The Sakura tea, which is trusted by the Taiwanese to help them lose weight.
Hear, hear for Milk Tea!
If you’re the type who can’t stand pure tea, milk tea is heaven sent for you. Since this concoction’s base is tea, you still get health benefits, but the sweetness the milk provides balances out its organic feel. The caloric content of tea is actually one to none, so you’ll only have the calories from milk to think of—and if approximately 400 calories works for you, then go reach for that sweet cup. Tea may not be for the faint of heart (a.k.a those who can’t stand the almost absence of flavor), and milk tea solves just that.
When you can’t decide between the two, ask yourself what’s more important to you: Clean living or a sweet indulgence?
