The Teen Queen looked extra effervescent in the shoot she had Tuesday, and everything—from her complexion, to her brows, to her lips—was perfection. We especially like how effortlessly beautiful her braid was: And guess what? We found out from her hairstylist, John Valle, that it only took him three minutes (!) to do Kathryn's braid—and that you too can do it on your own with only your fingers, an elastic band, and some bobby pins:
Play up your waves. John says this 'do will be easily achieved by girls with wavy hair because their texture gives the style the right character it needs. If you've got straight hair though, scrunch it up or curl it a bit to get those undone waves going on.
Divide your hair into uneven sections. For your main part, you may opt for your usual one, but why don't you try switching things up by changing it?
Braid away. Yes, just braid it the usual way, says John, but be relaxed and casual with your approach. The goal is to make it look imperfectly beautiful. Messy hair, no matter the style, is the way to go, he adds.
Finish it up. Tie an elastic band around it, twist a bit to hide the band, and secure with some bobby pins.
There you go, an effortlessly royal braid like the Teen Queen's in just three minutes.
