And it’s beyond hot air balloons.
19 years, and still draws a crowd.
Local and foreign visitors gathered once again at Clark, Pampanga from February 12 to 15 for the 19th year of the Philippine Hot Air Balloon Festival.
The Hot Air Balloon Festival is best known for having a variety of hot air balloons, ranging from traditional shapes to extraordinary shapes such as old Macdonald’s house, a beagle, or even an elephant. For this year, 32 hot air balloons participated to the enjoyment of the crowd.
Beyond hot air balloons, the Philippine Hot Air Balloon Festival also has exhibitions that left the crowd in awe, from paragliders, skydivers, to planes performing various aerial tricks.
Upon stepping at the grounds of Clark International Airport during the Hot Air Balloon Festival, one would notice how colorful the skies are, as visitors would see hot air balloons and kites of different shapes and designs, in addition to the aerobatic exhibitions.
The Hot Air Balloon Festival also a family-friendly event as families and lovers could roam the grounds to browse through various tiangges and food stalls, or fly kites at the broad grounds of Clark.
The tiangges offered various items for sale, from bags, to clothes, to unique souvenirs like a balloon designed like one of the hot air balloons.
In addition to aerial exhibitions, there are also exhibitions on the ground, ranging from search and rescue demonstrations to car drifting exhibitions.
February 14, aside from being Valentines’ day, was a particularly special day. Carlo Aquino, JM de Guzman, and Aiza Seguerra serenaded the crowd as part of the Jeepney TV’s “Love is in the Air” concert.
Carlo, JM, and Aiza sang various songs ranging from classic OPM hits like the Eraserheads’ “Alapaap” to modern love ballads like John Legend’s “All of Me”.
In between these performances are mini-games that tested the contestants’ knowledge of songs being guessed, and challenges where lovebirds professed their love for each other.
All of these activities held in Clark International Airport culminate with an elaborate fireworks display to mark the conclusion of the 19th Philippine Hot Air Balloon festival.
